Wednesday, August 2, 1944Mrs. Sarah J. Peters, Peru and Winterset resident, died here last Tuesday, July 25th at the age of 84 years. Her funeral services were conducted by the Rev. Francis B. Harris, pastor of the Peru Methodist church, at the Kale funeral home in Truro, Thursday, July 27 and burial was made in the Ebenezer cemetery.
Mrs. Peters, the daughter of John and Hannah Bundy, was born at Amboy, Indiana, Sept. 30, 1859, and died July 25, 1944 at the age of 84 years, 9 months and 25 days.
She was married to John W. Peters November 9, 1882, and they were the parents of 11 children, 8 of whom died in infancy. A son Michael Irvin, died while serving with the U.S. army in France, Sept. 27, 1918. Mr. Peters died 12 years ago, and she is survived by two children, Frank Robert Peters of Peru, and Sarah Alice of St. Joseph, Mo.
Mrs. Peters was a member of the Friends church at her home at Amboy. At the age of 24 she went west, and after spending many years in Nebraska and Kansas, she located at Peru, where she lived until three years ago, when she moved to Winterset.
In addition to her two children, Mrs. Peters is survived by one sister, Mrs. Elmina Vesper of Hill City, Kansas, two brothers, Dr. J. A. Bundy of Hill City, Kansas and Joseph H. Bundy of Bliss, Idaho. She also leaves two grandchildren.
