Loyd Wilkinson, a well known Winterset resident all his life, died at the state hospital in Iowa City on Wednesday of last week after a long illness. He had been a patient at the Winterset and Iowa City hospitals much of the time during the past year. He was 54 years of age.

Mr. Wilkinson was born in Winterset Oct. 23, 1889, the son of William and Estina Wilkinson. He was married in October, 1921, to Fern Lawrence. They were the parents of one son, who survives. The wife and mother died in November, 1925.

He was employed for many years at the King Hardware store in Winterset, and for the past several years had worked for the Iowa Power and Light company here. He was a member of the Church of Christ and the Masonic lodge.

He is survived by his son, Pvt. William Wilkinson, who is now serving with the American army in Italy; and two brothers, Guy Wilkinson of San Diego, Calif., and Waldo Wilkinson of Winterset.

Funeral services were held Sunday from the Ramsey-Richards funeral home, in charge of the Rev. Tom Foglesong, pastor of the Winterset Church of Christ. Burial with Masonic rites, was held in the Winterset cemetery.
