Wednesday, July 19, 1944Edwin Trester, a resident of Madison county for most of his life, died Sunday at Huntington Beach, Calif., after a brief illness. He was 71 years of age. Mr. Trester was taken to a hospital in Huntington Beach July 5th for observation and treatment, and underwent a major operation last Saturday.
Mr. Trester was born March 12, 1873 in this county and spent most of his life here, with the exception of six years in Minnesota and the past 10 years in California. He was married to Mary Alice Brittain June 1, 1893, and they made their home northeast of Winterset until they moved to this town.
On June 1, 1943, he and his wife celebrated their Golden Wedding anniversary in Winterset, and spent several weeks here visiting their daughters and friends.
Mr. Trester is survived by his wife; five sons; four daughters; and 21 grandchildren. Four of the sons, Alvin, Glenn, Russell and Albert Trester live in California. The remaining son, Royal Trester, is serving with the U.S. army Engineer's corps in India. Five of his grandsons are also in the service of their country.
The surviving daughters are: Mrs. Aletha Oliver of Burlington, Colo.; Mrs. Edna Akin of Macksburg; Mrs. Marie Poindexter and Mrs. Lucile Wright of Winterset. He also leaves three sisters, and a twin brother, Edmund Trester of Nickerson, Minn.
Funeral services were held at Huntington Beach Wednesday, July 19th, and burial was made in a cemetery in that city.
