William V. Clark, a resident of Madison county for most of his life, died at the Winterset hospital Sunday. He was 79 years of age.

Mr. Clark was the son of Joseph and Margaret Armstrong Clark, and he was born in Fulton county, Illinois, on Feb. 13, 1865. He came to Iowa in 1870.

He was married on Jan. 9, 1890, to Mary Viola Smith. They were the parents of eight children, three of whom preceded the father in death. The wife and mother died in 1935.

He is survived by five children, Vernon W. Clark of Booneville, Harvey S. Clark of Winterset, Mrs. Lois Koehler of Winterset, Mrs. Gladys McDonald of Winterset, and Clarence G. Clark of Earlham; and two sisters, Mrs. Anna Stull of St. Edwards, Neb., and Mrs. Maggie Tullis of Genoa, Tex.

Funeral services were held here Tuesday from the Ramsey-Richards Funeral home, in charge of the Rev. L. F. Davis. Burial was made in the McDonald-Chase cemetery.
