Well-Known Winterset Man Died Last Wednesday at Memorial Hospital
Dale E. Hylton, a well-known Winterset resident for many years, died Wednesday, Jan. 27 at Memorial hospital in Winterset. He was 68 years of age and had been in failing health for some time.
Mr. Hylton had retired three years ago after 25 years as a petroleum dealer in this community. He had also been in the grain business. He was a former Winterset city councilman and had served as a member of the Winterset fire department.
He was a native of Elmwood, Nebr., where he was born Dec. 26, 1891, but had lived in Madison county since 1912. He was a son of James and Cannie White Hylton. He was married at Murray, Ia., on July 6, 1913 to Ila Hiatt. He was preceded in death by a son, Lowell, who was killed in an autombile accident in Winterset in 1929.
Mr. Hylton is survived by his wife; and three children, Mrs. Lloyd Bergman of Denver, Colo., Willard Hylton of Winterset, and James Hylton of Hopkins, Minn. He also leaves two sisters, Mrs. Alta Hart of Paradise, Calif., and Mrs. Helen Griffin of Racine, Wisc.
Funeral services were held Saturday from the Richards Funeral home, conducted by the Rev. Robert Owens, pastor of the Winterset Christian church. Burial was made in the Peru cemetery.
