Helen D. Hutton, St. Charles

Helen Darlene Hutton, 71, of St. Charles died of leukemia April 29, 2002 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 3, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in St. Marys with Father Wayne Gubbels and Father John Frost officiating. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday May 2, at Kale Funeral Home in Osceola with the family present from 6-8 p.m. A prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. Burial will be in St. Charles Cemetery.

Helen Hutton was born April 10, 1931 in Des Moines, to George Alva and Frances (Osborn) Woods. She received her education in the Des Moines school system and also attended high school in Truro. She married Joseph Hutton on May 13, 1949 in Des Moines. In 1967, they moved to St. Charles. Helen worked for the post office for seven years and also owned the Covered Bridge Restaurant in St. Charles for a year and a half. She then was employed by Montross Pharmacy for eight years. She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in St. Marys and the Bible Study Group.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a granddaughter.

She is survived by her husband, Joseph of St. Charles; six sons, Bruce Hutton (wife Barbara) of Mt. Ayr, Roger Hutton (wife Victoria), Sam Hutton and Tom Hutton (wife Sonia) all of St. Charles, and George Hutton (wife Bridget) and Paul Hutton (wife Stacie) all of Truro; a daughter, Frances Emmons of St. Charles; three brothers, Ralph Woods (wife Beverly) and Ernest Woods (wife Joyce) both of Des Moines and Harold Woods (wife Shirley) of Bevington; 22 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
