Ella May, daughter of Daniel B. and Maria Barrus, was born in Winterset, May 1, 1877, and passed away at her home in Winterset, July 20, 1930.
She attended the public schools in Winterset and graduated with a large class in 1896. After attending Des Moines University, she taught in the rural schools some twenty years, when her health failed and she was compelled to take a rest. In her early teens she gave her heart to God and united with the local Baptist church, becoming an active member until the time of breaking health.
She leaves to mourn her passing, Mrs. Anna Ward, of Long Beach, California; Eugene Barrus of Staples, Minnesota; Wm. L. Barrus of Omaha, Nebraska, and Charles A. Barrus. In addition to those mentioned and other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services were conducted at Tidrick's funeral home at 10 o'clock, Tuesday morning, by Rev. John T. Hall. Burial was in the family lot in the Winterset cemetery.
