Wednesday, June 24, 1942St. Charles--(Special)--June 21.
Robert Clarke died suddenly at his home here, early Thursday morning, being stricken with a heart attack, and passed away before the doctor could reach him. He had been a victim of a serious heart trouble for years, but his many friends were shocked at his sudden passing, as he had driven his car to town twice on Wednesday, and attended to the chores around his home. He was 71 years of age, and was born in Ireland and came to America at the age of 11 years, and had lived in St. Charles for 25 years.
He is survived by his wife and one daughter, Mrs. Roy Leggett, and three grandsons, Dyle, Robert and Royce Leggett, all of St. Charles. Other relatives are one sister in Saskatchewan, Canada, and one brother, a sister and a half sister in Ireland.
Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon, in the United Presbyterian church, conducted by the Rev. S. C. Picken of Des Moines, and burial was made in the St. Charles cemetery.
