Mrs. A. O. Black, a long-time resident of the West Star neighborhood west of Winterset, died at her home about eight miles west of town Sunday. She was 67 years of age.

Mrs. Black was the former Nora Eva Hoots, daughter of Francis and Ellen Hoots, and was born near Cook's Mill, Ill., on April 15, 1875. She was married to A. O. Black at Tuskala, Ill., on Oct. 19, 1892.

As a young girl she united with the Methodist church at Quinn chapel, Ill. After moving to Iowa, she transferred her membership to the West Star Methodist church.

She is survived by her husband, and eight children, as follows: Charles Black of Greenfield, Glenn, Maurice and Paul Black of Winterset, Mrs. David Spence of Hawkeye, Mrs. Harold Mayer, Mrs. Donald Crawford and Nellie Black of Winterset. Beside these, she leaves a sister, Mrs. William Light of Winterset; two brothers, Arthur Hoots of Winterset and Alby Hoots of Decatur, Ill., a step-sister, Mrs. Etta Duber of St. Louis, Mo.; a half-brother, Jessie Hixon of Sherburn, Minn.; 14 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Tuesday from the Ramsey-Richards funeral home, in charge of the Rev. W. A. Samp, pastor of the Winterset Methodist church. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
