Mrs. Jennie Hess, a resident of the Ord community for many years, died at her home there on Wednesday of last week at the age of 59 years.

Mrs. Hess was a native of Kansas, where she was born in Smith county, near Lebannon, on Nov. 12, 1882. She was the daughter of John Wesley and Sarah Jane Timmons. She lived near Lebannon until the age of 16 she went to Shawnee, Okla.

She was married to William Bryson Hess on Dec. 25, 1899. For a while they lived in Oklahoma, but in 1908 they moved to Wheatland, Kan. After a year there, they moved to Iowa and this state had since been her home.

For many years Mrs. Hess was a member of the Christian Union church of Ord. She was a member of the Clover club of that community, and of the Happy Hour club.

In addition to her husband; she is survived by three sons, Glen, of Lorimor, Orville of Winterset and Dale Hess of San Diego, Calif.; four grandchildren; four sisters; and two brothers.

Funeral services were held Saturday from the Ramsey-Richards funeral home in Winterset, in charge of the Rev. Tom Foglesong, pastor of the Winterset Church of Christ. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
