D. S. Bass received word last week, of the death of his only sister, Mrs. Lida Veenstra, of Gainsville, Florida on Wednesday, June 10th. Mrs. Veenstra died at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Helen Barrigan, of Gainsville, and funeral and burial services were held in that city.

Mrs. Veenstra, who was the former Lida Bass, was raised in this county, and lived here until about thirty-five years ago. Her first husband, Mr. Lowry, died, and she was later married to Mr. Veenstra, who has also preceded her in death.

She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Barrigan, and Mrs. Mary Collins of Gainsville, a son Arlie Lowry of Kansas City, and the brother, D. S. Bass of Winterset.
