Wednesday, June 3, 1942Dale R. Simpson, young Winterset resident for all his life except the past year, died Monday at the Iowa Lutheran hospital in Des Moines. He had been ill for the past seven weeks with Malta fever. He was 28 years of age.
Mr. Simpson was born in Winterset On Oct. 17, 1913, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Simpson. He attended the public schools here.
He was a member of the Winterset Church of Christ.
He was married on Sept. 1, 1940, to Florence Fickes. About a year ago they moved to Des Moines, where they had been living since. Mr. Simpson was employed at the Ankeny ordinance plant.
He is survived by his wife; two foster children, Dorothy and Fred Fickes; his parents; two sisters, Helen Simpson of Winterset and Mrs. Mary Jane Thurman of Murray; and one brother, Frederick Simpson of Winterset.
Funeral services were held here Wednesday from the Anderson Home for Funerals, in charge of the Rev. Tom Foglesong, pastor of the Church of Christ. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
