Winterset, Iowa
Wednesday, June 3, 1942

Elvis R. Stout, a well-known resident of the Patterson community for most of his life, died here last Thursday at the age of 67 years.

Mr. Stout had lived all his life in Madison county with the exception of 12 years in Hamilton county. He was born here on April 28, 1875, the son of John and Sarah Stout. He was married to Jessie M. Grewell on Jan. 1, 1899.

He united with the Church of Christ of Patterson as a young man, and in later life transferred his membership to the Winterset church of that denomination, where he retained his membership and was a regular attendant as long as his health permitted. Mr. and Mrs. Stout moved to Winterset last fall because of his health, but had returned to their farm.

He is survived by his wife; a brother, C. A. Stout of Patterson; six nieces and four nephews.

Funeral services were held from the Ramsey-Richards funeral home Sunday, in charge of the Rev. L. F. Davis and the Rev. Tom Foglesong.

Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
