Winterset Madisonian - Wed. April 22, 1942

Mrs. Ernest Allen, a long-time resident of Winterset, died at her home here Saturday after a brief illness. She was 62 years of age.

Mrs. Allen was the former Bertha Corsbie, and she was born Oct. 26, 1878, at Rising Sun. When she was 15 years old, her parents moved to a farm near Elm Grove, where she lived until after her marriage to Ernest N. Allen, which occurred on Sept. 3, 1899.

Mrs. Allen was the mother of two children, Irene of Winterset, and Wayne of near Winterset.

She is survived by her husband and the two children; two grandsons; and two brothers, Ivan Corsbie of Van Wert and Walker Corsbie of New Virginia.

Funeral services were held from the St. Charles Methodist church Monday, following brief rites held at her home here. The Rev. L. F. Davis of Winterset was in charge. Burial was made in the St. Charles cemetery.
