ST. CHARLES RITES FOR MRS. E. HOWARD

ST. CHARLES-Funeral services were held June 1 from the St. Charles Methodist church for Jennie Isabelle Howard, a life-time resident of this community.

Mrs. Howard died May 29 at the Madison County Memorial hospital in Winterset at the age of 81 years. She had been in failing health since the death of her husband, the late E. E. Howard, Aug. 1, 1952, but had been a patient at the hospital for only four days.

The daughter of Jessie and Isabelle Lathrum, she was born Aug. 10, 1871, on the Lathrum farm, near Hanley. She was married to Elmer E. Howard July 2, 1891 and they continued to reside in Hanley until they moved to St. Charles about 20 years ago.

She was a long-time member of Model Chapter No. 174 of the Order of the Eastern Star, and of the Methodist church in St. Charles.

Her parents, her husband and an infant son preceded her in death.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Madge King and Miss Orma Howard of St. Charles and two sons, Esmond Howard, who lives near Winterset and Orville of St. Charles. She also leaves 11 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren.
