Winterset Madisonian - Wed., January 3, 1945

Mrs. Annie Nolan, member of a pioneer Madison county family, died last Friday at the Mercy hospital in Des Moines after a two weeks illness. She was 84 years of age.

Mrs. Nolan was the former Annie O'Hern, daughter of Timothy O'Hern, who was a pioneer settler in the Irish settlement near St. Patrick's church.

When she was 18 years old, she was married to Lawrence Nolan, and they farmed in Madison county for many years. For the past 20 years she had been living with her daughter, Mrs. L. E. French of Des Moines.

In addition to Mrs. French, she is survived by three daughters, Mrs. E. P. Martin of Marshalltown, Mrs. H. E. Brennan of Dodge, City, Kan., and Mrs. M. T. Cahill of Des Moines; a son, John Nolan of Garden City, Kan., 21 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Saturday from All Saints Catholic church in Des Moines, with burial in the St. Patrick's cemetery in Lee township.
