Life-Long Resident of This Community Succumbs at Minneapolis

Mrs. Jean Cash Scott, a life-long resident of Winterset, died in a Minneapolis hospital last Saturday after a long illness.

Mrs. Scott was born In Winterset on Dec. 2, 1866, in the first house west of the Winterset postoffice and lived in that house all her life until one year ago, when she moved to Minneapolis, to make her home with her foster son, Earl Scott. She was the youngest of the six children of Frank and Mary McMullen Cash.

She taught in the Winterset schools for many years, and also several years in the schools at Boone. In 1909 and 1910 she served as Madison county superintendent of schools.

She was married to Thomas Scott of Winterset in September of 1911. Mr. Scott died in 1933.

Mrs. Scott was a member of the Winterset Presbyterian church for many years, and of the P.E.O. sisterhood for fifty years. She was active in many study clubs in this community.

She is survived by her foster son, Earl Scott of Minneapolis, and one brother, T. I. Cash of St. Paul, Minn.

Funeral services were held from the Winterset Presbyterian church Monday, in charge of the Rev. L. F. Davis of Winterset. Burial was made in the local cemetery.
