Memorial services for Doris Mae Peterson Howard, 63, Akin, S.C., who died July 29 at her residence there were held Wednesday Aug. 5, at the First United Methodist Church in Winterset with the Rev. Zona Lautt officiating. Burial was in the Winterset Cemetery.

Mrs. Howard, who went by the nickname of "Pete Peterson" was born April 2, 1924 in Winterset. She was a telephone operator for a telephone answering service.

She lived in Akin for the past 15 years. She attended Winterset High School and graduated in 1942.

Survivors include a son, Mark F. Howard of Adel; daughters, Michelle H. Lumadue of Mr. Pleasant, Patrice Howard of Dexter and Tiara Jo Burgess of St. Paul, Minn.; a sister, Rosemary P. Reek of Carson City, Nev.; 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a son.
