Catherine Howard, Osceola

Catherine Marie Howard, 84, of Osceola, a former Madison County resident, died May 8, 2004 at Clarke County Hospital in Osceola.

Funeral services were held Tuesday May 11, at Kale Funeral Home in Osceola with Father Tom Dooley officiating. Burial was in St. Charles Cemetery.

Catherine Howard was born Oct. 22, 1919 in Trenton, N.J. to Michael and Catherine (McNally) Scully. She was a 1936 graduate of Cathedral High School. On June 17, 1945, she was united in marriage to Vincent Wayne Howard in Des Moines. They resided in Des Moines and Winterset prior moving to St. Charles in the early 1950s. They later moved to Truro in the early 1970s. Catherine had been a resident of the Clarke County Hospital Extended Care Unit in Osceola for the past five years. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in St. Marys.

She was preceded in death by her husband and a sister Mary Hale.

She is survived by one daughter, Elizabeth Carpenter of Cleburne, Texas; three sons, Dennis Howard of New Virginia, Brian Howard of Des Moines and Richard Howard of St. Charles; three sisters, Elizabeth Gallagher and Margaret Ziegler, both of Trenton, N.J. and Ann Robinson of Bordentown, N.J.; a brother, Michael Scully of Trenton, N.J.; and nine grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the Clarke County Hospital Extended Care Unit.
