Mrs. Bessie B. Howard, 80, died May 26 at a Council Bluffs hospital after an extended illness.
She was born at Winterset and came to Council Bluffs with her late parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Weaver in a covered wagon in the fall of 1907.
Mrs. Howard was the widow of Clarence Howard who died in 1969. She was a member of the Christian Church.
Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Leona E.Bothwell and Mrs. Edna M. Cook, both of Council Bluffs and Mrs. Ruth I. Cox of Auburn, Kansas; two sons, Arthur Strietbeck of Crescent and Joseph Strietbeck of Avoca; a sister, Mrs. Grace Smith of Council Bluffs; 34 grandchildren; 53 great-children; and three great great grandchildren.
Services were at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Meyer Chapel. The Rev. Treverse Harrison, pastor of Broadway Christian Church officiated. Interment was at Cedar Lawn Cemetery.
