Allen Howard, Lorimor

Allen P. Howard, 60, of Lorimor, died of cancer May 21, 1997 at his home. Funeral services were held May 23 at the Powers Funeral Home in Afton and were officiated by the Rev. John Shaull. Burial followed at the Winterset Cemetery.

He was born in Cedar Falls on April 3, 1937 to L. C. and DoraBelle (Randolph) Howard. He graduated from Dike High School, and attended Iowa State University. On July 31, 1960 he married Karen Rayl in Afton. The couple remained in Dike until 1970 when they moved to Lorimor. He was a farmer. He was a member of the United Methodist Church, Masonic Lodge, Madison Co., Cattleman's Assoc., and the Iowa Charolais Assoc. He was also a 4-H leader.

He was preceded in death by his father and one infant granddaughter.

He is survived by his wife; his mother; one daughter, Cindy Howard Smith and husband R.W. of Adel; one son, Bruce Howard of Lorimor; two sisters, Virginia Raybould of San Diego, Calif., Linda Bohr and husband Joe of Cedar Falls; and one granddaughter.
