Funeral services for Alice Catherine Howard, 91, were held July 9 at the St. Charles Parish Church with the Rev. Ed Poston officiating. Mrs. Howard died July 5, 1993 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines. Burial was at St. Charles Cemetery.
She was born July 11, 1901 at Cripple Creek, Colo., to Mr. and Mrs. Jessie Eno. She married Orville Howard March 15, 1923 in Indianola. A homemaker, she also worked as a telephone operator in Indanola and at the St. Charles School. She was a member of the Eastern Star and the St. Charles Methodist Women. She was a member of the St. Charles Parish Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, one daughter and one sister.
Surviving relatives include a son, Robert Howard and wife Helen of St. Charles; a daughter, Judy Frey and husband Col. Bernard Frey of Randolph Air Force Base, Texas; a son-in-law, Vern Emerson of Lorimor; four sisters, Ilo Wright of Seattle, Wash., Betty Nebel, Edith Wright, Jesse Cox, all of Calif.; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
