Floyd R. Housman, Winterset

Floyd Raymon Housman, 81, of Winterset died of complications of surgery April 5, 2002, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.

Funeral services were held Monday, April 8 at Collins Oak Park Chapel in Winterset with the Rev. Bob Epperson officiating. Burial was at Montpelier, Crawford Township, Madison County.

Floyd Housman was born June 12, 1920 to Flemming and Bertha (Hodges) Housman of Liberty Center. He married Althea Hathaway on Feb. 20, 1940 in Creston. Floyd was a retired welder for Pittsburg-Steel where he had been employed for 25 years. An Army veteran of World War II, he was a member of the Masonic Lodge and Eastern Star Temple 43 of Winterset. He had been a resident of the Winterset area since 1950. He previously had resided in St. Charles and Des Moines.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, a sister and an infant sister.

He is survived by his wife, Althea of Winterset; two sons, Ronald J. Housman (wife Verna K.) of Ames and Terry L. Housman (wife Teena) of Winterset; a daughter, Sondra L. Mapes of Perry; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; six step-great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
