MABEL VAN HOEVER, Montezuma

Funeral services for Mabel Wehrle Van Hoever, 83, were held Sat., March 30 at Watts Funeral Home in Montezuma with Pastor Bil Ell of West Liberty Church of Christ officiating. She died March 27, 1991, at Mercy Medical Center, Des Moines.

She was born February 11, 1908 in Poweshiek County to Blanche (Steele) and Ramel Lymon Olcott and was educated in the rural schools of Madison County, West High School of Des Moines, and graduated from Central College of Pella. She taught rural schools in Madison and Poweshiek Counties, Newton Public School and Montezuma Community School. On January 24, 1948, she married Verner V. Wehrle of New Sharon who preceded her in death, and on December 7, 1975 married Jacob W. Van Hoever of Montezuma. She spent most of her life in the Montezuma area before moving to Texas in 1985 and then to Indianola in 1989. She was a member of the West Liberty Church of Christ.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, and three brothers.

Surviving are a son, James Wehrle of Indianola; two step-children, Virginia Neofotist and Arlo Van Hoever, both of Montezuma; two sister-in-laws; two step-children; a grandchild; and seven step grandchildren.

Burial was at West Liberty Cemetery in Poweshiek County.
