Glenn Horras Dies at 63

Glenn (Glendale) Horras, a well known interior decorator and designer, died of cancer at his home in Des Moines, Saturday, Dec. 3. Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 7, at Westover Funeral Home in Des Moines on Hickman, with burial at Winterset.

Glenn Horace was born in Winterset Nov. 27, 1914.

The only child of John and Stella (Duff) Horras, he moved to Des Moines in 1936, where he spent the remainder of his lifetime with the exception of April 1, 1942 to January 1944 at which time he lived in Newton.

He was married to Ruth Boweres of Newton, Nov. 11, 1946. Mr. Horace was engaged in the business of home furnishing and established Horras Interior and Designing 15 years ago.

Among his decorating accomplishments in Iowa and Nebraska were churches, banks, professional offices, retirement homes, funeral homes, high rise apartments, residences and a model home. He was commissioned in Dec. 1969 to restore a home south of Grand in Des Moines which was the first home open to the public and initiated the annual Bishop Drumm Day. Mr. Horras also maintained a home in Winterset. He was engaged in the business of real estate and farming. One of the farms was originally purchased in 1899 by his grandfather, Henry Horras.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth and was preceded in death by his parents.
