Rose Ellen Van Buren, 92, of Van Meter, died of a respiratory ailment August 3, 1997 at Community Care of Winterset. Memorial services were August 5 at the Fisher Funeral Home in Van Meter and the body was donated to the University of Iowa Medical Center.
She was born December 10, 1904 in Van Meter as the daughter of Nelson and Blanche (Addy) Brooker. On December 12, 1924, she married Arthur Van Buren in Van Meter. She was a homemaker, a life long resident of Van Meter, and also a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church of Van Meter.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and several brothers and sisters.
Surviving relatives include one daughter, Beverly Schley of Mesa, Ariz.; two sons, Colin Van Buren of San Antonio, Texas, Willard Van Buren of Irving, Texas; two brothers, Herbert Brooker of Indianola, Ralph Brooker of Des Moines; two sisters, Madeline Bennett of Des Moines, Darlene Fundinger of Colorado; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Page 13, Column 1Rose Ellen VanBuren, 92, of Van Meter died of a respiratory ailment Sunday in Winterset. The body has been donated to University Hospitals in Iowa City, and memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Fisher Funeral Home in Van Meter.
Mrs. VanBuren, a lifelong Van Meter resident, was a homemaker and member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Van Meter.
Survivors include a daughter, Beverly Schley of Mesa, Ariz.; two sons, Colin of San Antonio, Texas, and Willard of Irving, Texas; two sisters, Madeline Bennett of Des Moines and Darlene Fundinger of Colorado; two brothers, Ralph Brooker of Des Moines and Herbert Brooker of Indianola; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to her church.
