Edna Elsie Van Buren, 102, died Nov. 23, 2002, of respiratory failure at Osceola Nursing and Rehab Center.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Nov. 26, at Immanuel Lutherean Church in Osceola with the Rev. J. R. Wheeler officiating. Burial was at Maple Hill Cemetery, Osceola.
Edna Van Buren was born Oct. 20, 1900, in Kossuth County to Henry and Ida (Leudtke) Behnke. She was educated in the Kossuth County schools. On Nov. 25, 1925, she married Armin C. Van Buren at the Immanuel Lutheran Church at Lotts Creek. Edna and her husband farmed near Truro from 1939 to 1981, when they retired and moved to Osceola. She was a memeber of the Lutheran Church in Osceola, where she had been a Sunday school teacher and a member of the women's group.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, three brothers and five sisters.
She is survived by two sons, Elmer Van Buren of Osceola and Melvin Van Buren (wife Louise) of Wheat Ridge, Colo.; three daughters, Wanda Lahn (husband Don) of Palm Desert, Calif., Neoma Kreye of Denver, Colo., and Garnet Schultz of Aurora, Colo.; 12 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.
Funeral arrangements were handled by Kale Funeral Homes of Osceola and Truro.
