ARMIN CHARLES BERNHARD VAN BUREN, Osceola

Services for Armin Charles Bernhard Van Buren, 89, Osceola, who died Nov. 9, 1988, at the Clarke County Hospital in Osceola, were held Tuesday, Nov. 15, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Osceola with the Rev. Jay Wheeler of Osceola officiating. Burial was at the Maple Hill Cemetery at Osceola.

Born Dec. 13, 1898 at Waterloo, Ill., he was the son of Jacob and Ruff Van Buren, and attended Monroe County, Ill., schools. On Nov. 25, 1925, he married Edna Elsie Behnke at Lotts Creek, Iowa.

Mr. Van Buren was a retired farmer and had lived 42 years on a farm near Truro, and moved to Osceola in 1981. He was the director of the Federal Land Bank for 20 years and with the Farmers Home Administration and Production Credit Association. He held many offices in the Immanuel Lutheran Church at Osceola as a member.

Survivors include his wife, Edna of Osceola; sons, Elmer and wife Dorothy of Weldon, and Melvin and wife Louise of Wheatridge, Colo.; daughters, Wanda Lahn and husband Don of La Habra, Calif., and Neoma Kreye and husband Walter of Denver, Colo. and Garnet Schultz and husband John of Aurora, Colo.; 12 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; and brothers, Art of Van Meter, Albert of Algona and Bill of Council Grove, Kansas.

He was preceded in death by his parents, five sisters, and five brothers.
