Page 1Death of Mrs. Smith Hann
Mrs. Smith Hann passed away at her home on East Court avenue Sunday morning, May 17 about nine o’clock. Mrs. Hann has been in poor health for some time.
Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon, May 19 at the Methodist Church, conducted by Reverend A. P. Keast and Reverend W. C. Porter. Burial was in the Winterset cemetery. The Legion Auxiliary had charge of a part of the services.
Mrs. Hann is survived by her husband and a daughter, Mrs. Frank Roberts. A son Forrest preceded her in death, being killed in action during the World War. She is also survived by a brother, Lew Beardsley of Hebron and a step mother and two half brothers, Theodore and Ed Beardsley and a half sister, Mrs. Alta Reed.
Mrs. Hann was born in Boone county February 16th, 1865. She was married to Smith Hann, February 13, 1884. They have made their home in Madison county since their marriage.

Minnie Wilmina Beardsley, daughter of N. M. and Julia Beardsley, was born February 18, 1865, in Boone County, Iowa, and came with her parents to Madison county, in 1872, living on a farm southeast of Winterset. She was married to Smith Hann February 13, 1885. To this union five children were born, three dying in infancy, one son, Everett, was killed in the world war May 28, 1918.
Converted at the early age of fourteen, Mrs. Hann united with the Methodist church. She was also a charter member of the American Legion Auxiliary and The Arc-en-Cell club. She was a loyal and devoted wife, a loving mother and an excellent neighbor; her friends were legion.
Mrs. Hann has been in failing health for years and passed away at 9:10 a.m., Sunday, May 17, 1931.
Surviving her are her husband, one daughter, Mrs. Frank Roberts of Winterset, a brother, L. W. Beardsley of Adair county, two half-brothers, a half-sister and step-mother, all of Peru, and a number of nieces and nephews.
