THEODORE H. STONEMAN

Theodore H. Stoneman, son of William and Matilda Reed Stoneman, was born in Carroll county, Ohio, May 27, 1853. At the age of 2 years he came with his parents to Poweshiek county, Iowa, where his mother passed away a few days after reaching there. The next spring they came to Madison county, but after a short residence here he with his father and brother returned to Ohio to make their home. He lived there until he was 21 years old, when he again came to Madison county.

He was married to Miss Emma Martin Dec. 12, 1878, and to this union four children were born, Etha and Nellie, who passed away several years ago, Oron, who resides on a farm north of Truro, and Mrs. Bradie Spencer of East Peru, Ia.

His wife passed away Oct. 23, 1890. He was married to Miss Sarah Moore Sept. 20, 1891, and to this union was born one son, William. He was coneerted and became a member of the Ohio M. E. church in the winter of 1877 and later transferred his membership to the Truro M.E. church, and has all his life lived the quiet consistent life of a devout Christian.

He moved from his farm south of Truro to Osceola in March, 1915, and lived there until this spring when he and his wife came to their son William's where they have spent the summer. He had been failing all summer but did not become serious until about one week ago. He was taken to the Lutheran hospital last Saturday and all that loving hands could do was done for him, but he grew worse and passed away Sunday morning, Sept. 26, 1920, aged 67 years, 4 months and 3 days.

He leaves to mourn his loss, a wife, one daughter, two sons, three grandchildren, other relatives and a host of friends. May his life be our example, full of kindness, love and cheer.
