DUANE D. HOPKINS

Duane Duer Hopkins, 61, of Earlham, passed away June 29, 1984 at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa. He was born November 9, 1922 in Audubon, Iowa, son of Edmund and Bessie (Watson) Hopkins. He was educated in Guthrie County schools and served in the U.S. Army in World War II from 1941-44. Duane farmed in Guthrie and Dallas counties and was employed by John Deere of Ankeny, for 29 years.

He married Eugenia Raibikis on January 17, 1944 and to this union seven chiildren were born: Connie Trenkamp, Worthington, Iowa; Carol Smith, St. Louis, Missouri; Kay Hopkins, Des Moines; Edmund Hopkins, Earlham; Nancy Miller, Ames; Christopher Hopkins, Des Moines and John Hopkins at home; four sisters, Marjorie Peterson, Kimballton, Mary Lou Hoover, Guthrie Center, Clara Jo Harnack, Spirit Lake, and Donna Treon, Bentonville, Arkansas, and three brothers, James, Panora, and Larry and Gary, Douglas, Wyoming and 11 grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral mass was conducted July 3, 1984 at St. John's Catholic Church, Adel, Iowa with Father Thomas J. Pfeffer officiating. Organ music was provided by Mike Cooper. Pallbearers were Mark Peterson, Michael Raibikis, Dennis Hoover, Paul Pieper, Leo Pieper and Dean Hopkins. Interment was in Oakdale Cemetery, Adel, Iowa.
