MAYME WOLFE, Winterset

Mayme Lorene Wolfe, 89, died July 24, 2006, at Winterset Care Center South.

Funeral services were held Friday, July 28, at the First United Methodist Church in Winterset with Pastor Bobb Barrick officiating. Burial was at Winterset Cemetery.

Mayme Wolfe was born Sept. 28, 1916, in Adair County to Ernest C. and Madeline Lorene (Sanders) Schulz. On Sept. 28, 1935, she married Lee C. Wolfe at the family home near Orient. A lifetime resident, Mayme had been employed as a sales clerk at the Ben Franklin store for over 40 years. She also worked at Western Auto and sold Avon products. She was a member of the Madison County Election Committee and the Winterset First United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband; a grandson, Jeffrey Cook; a great-granddaughter, Jennifer Cook; and a brother, Rex Schulz.

She is survived by one son, Leroy Wolfe of Waukee; one daughter, Joan Cook of Bradenton, Fla.; and four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the First United Methodist Church or Madison County Elderly Services.

Funeral arrangements were handled by Collins Oak Park Chapel in Winterset.
