Richard F. Bruce, member of a well known Madison county family died Aug. 31, at Wall, S. Dak., where he had lived since 1906. He was 82 years of age.

Mr. Bruce was born at Winterset Dec. 27, 1873, the son of Francis M. and Harriet Templeman Bruce. His early life was spent in this community. He was married Jan. 27, 1897, to Bertha L. Nelson who died in 1913. They were the parents of three children, all of whom survive.

He moved to South Dakota in 1900, filing on a homestead at Wall in 1906 where he had since resided. He was a member of the Masonic lodge, the I.O.O.F., and was active in community affairs there.

On June 9, 1936, he was married to Emma Jane Marshall, who survives him.

The surviving children are: Marion, of McIntosh, S. Dak., Mrs. Leone Potter of Lead, S. Dak., and Mrs. Helen Burton of Carroll, Ia.

Funeral services were held from the First Methodist church at Wall, with the Rev. I. D. Wood of Rapid City, S. Dak., officiating. Burial was made with Masonic rites.

He also leaves four sisters, Mrs. Annie M. Niblo, and Mrs. Lillie B. Niblo, both of Winterset; Della E. Bruce of Long Beach, Calif., and Mrs. Ray Sage of Ogilvie, Minn; and two brothers, R. W. Bruce of Amarillo, Tex., and J. E. Bruce of Detroit, Mich.
