Francis McDonald, of Douglas township, died very suddenly last evening. We understand that he was sitting in a chair and suddenly fell forward and died. He had been complaining of a pain in his chest and the trouble was probably heart disease. His death brings a great loss to his family and the community where he lived.

Francis McDonald Dead

Francis McDonald, a prominent farmer of Douglas township and a lifelong citizen of the County, dropped dead Tuesday evening. Mr. McDonald was sitting in his chair talking to his brother when without a moment’s warning he fell to the floor dead. He gasped two or three times after his brother had picked him up. Dr. Embree was summoned but death was practically instantaneous.

Mr. McDonald had been to town two or three days previous to his death and while talking to friends had a stroke of apoplexy. He was taken to the home of Mr. Leizure and on Monday was taken to his brother’s home. He had been more or less an invalid for several years.

He was an honored and respected citizen of the county and the news of his death caused profound sorrow to a large circle of friends.
