VIRGINIA DENLY, Lorimor

Virginia H. Denly, 86, of Lorimor died Nov. 16, 2004, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Nov. 20, at the Lorimor United Methodist Church. Burial was at East Union Cemetery in Clarke County.

Virginia Denly was born Aug. 6, 1918, in Union County to James and Guyda (Gorr) Gibson. She was a graduate of Lorimor High School. As a young woman, Virginia taught country school in Union and Clarke counties. She also was a substitute teacher at Lorimor, Thayer and East Union. On Oct. 28, 1939, she married John Denly. She was a member of the Lorimor United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women and Lorimor Eastern Star (50 years). She also was a past member of the Lorimor Lioness Club.

She was preceded in death by her husband; one son, Larry Eugene; one grandchild, Linda Dianne; three brothers, Eugene, Junior and Paul Gibson; and two sisters, Christina Gibson and Kathryn Hiskey.

She is survived by one daughter, Patricia Bennett of Dexter; two sisters, Pauline Neisemier of Murray and Betty Campbell of Pekin, Ill.; a brother, Gerald Gibson of Lorimor; and two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
