Helen “Pipe” Henrietta Clausen, 92, of Dexter died Nov. 16, 2004, in Des Moines.
Funeral services were held Friday, Nov. 19, at the Zion Lutheran Church in Dexter with the Rev. Luke Zimmerman officiating. Burial was at Dexter Cemetery.
Helen Clausen was born March 3, 1912, to John and Ella (Meister) Piper of Dexter. She was a 1930 graduate of Dexter Public School and attended the University of Iowa for one year. In the summer of 1931, she began working at Drew’s Candy Shop in Dexter. On March 3, 1940, she married Paul Clausen at the Zion Church in Dexter. After eight years on a farm, they moved back to Dexter and Helen resumed working at Drew’s. At the age of 67, she retired from Drew’s following 40 years of service. She was a lifelong member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Dexter where she served as the organist for 40 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband; an infant son, Evan Antone; and a brother.
She is survived by a nephew, John Piper of Des Moines and two nieces, Jane McAtee of Booneville and Patsy Hall of Stuart.
Funeral arrangements were handled by Kuhn Funeral Homes of Dexter, Earlham and Redfield.
