EVA RUTH VASEY, Truro

Eva Ruth Vasey, 84, of Truro died of complications of pneumonia March 6, 2002, at Westview Care Center in Indianola.

Funeral services were held Saturday, March 9, at Kale Funeral Home in Osceola with the Rev. John Long officiating. Burial was at Young Cemetery, Ohio Township, Madison County.

Eva Vasey was born Oct. 22, 1917, to Clarence Emmett and Lillie Gladys (Kitchen) Smith of Ogden and received her education in the Story County schools. She married Ivan Albert Vasey on May 20, 1935, in Des Moines. A housewife, Eva had resided in the Truro area for 64 years. She was a member of the Truro Congregational United Church of Christ.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a daugher, three sisters and two brothers.

She is survived by six daughters, Ruby Adamson (husband Devere) and Betty Griffiths (husband Bob), both of Norwalk, Alice Champlin (husband Larry) and Janet Miller (husband Max), both of Indianola and Bonnie Groth (husband John) and Mary Wenck (husband Randy), both of Prole; four sons, Ralph Vasey (wife Betty) of St. Charles, Charles Vasey (wife Judy) of Norwalk and Bob Vasey (wife Connie) and Steve Vasey (wife Marcia), both of Truro; a son-in-law, Terry Appenzeller of Springfield, Mo.; a brother, Richard Smith (wife Shirley) of Nevada; 29 grandchildren; and 36 great-grandchildren.
