Gwendolyn L. Hope, 82, of Winterset died of a heart ailment Friday, April 17, 1998 at her home.

Memorial graveside services were held Tuesday April 21 at Winterset Cemetery with the Rev. Bob Epperson officiating.

Gwen Hope was born Sept. 13, 1915 in Madison County to Lawrence and Alverda (Hogg) DeLong. She graduated from Winterset High School in 1934. She married Ralph Hope Nov. 11, 1934 in Missouri. Gwen, a lifetime resident of Winterset, was a retired cook and waitress.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sons and one daughter.

She is survived by a daughter-in-law, Myrna Hope Moore (husband Jim) of Winterset; a sister, Geneva DeLong Addy (husband O.D.) of Winterset; five grandchildren, Rhoda Hope Miner (husband Reggie) and Jeff Hope (wife Betty) all of Winterset, Rodney Hope (wife Sherry) of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, Teresa Hope Silverthorn (husband Dusty) of Linden, Iowa and Sheryl McDonald (husband Doug) of Trenton, Iowa; 12 great grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Arrangements were handled by Collins Funeral Home in Winterset. Memorials may be directed to the family.
