Thursday, January 31, 1946Mrs. Alice Harris died at her home in Earlham, Friday, January 25. She had been in failing health the past several years, but the suddenness of her death came as a shock.
She was born in England and as a young child came to this country with her parents and settled in Illinois. Here she spent her girlhood. After her marriage she moved to Iowa and lived here the remainder of her life.
Funeral services were held at the Earlham Methodist church, Monday, January 28, at 2:00 p.m. o'clock. Rev. C. P. Shepard of Lake City was in charge of the serivces. Burial was in the Earlham cemetery.
OBITUARY
Margaret Alice Harris, daughter of George and Mary Fell, was born at Kellet, England, July 26, 1880, and passed away at her home in Earlham, January 25, 1946, at the age of 66 years, six months and one day.
She came to America from England at the age of three with her parents and settled southwest of El Paso, Illinois.
She was married at El Paso, Illinois, and moved to Iowa the following year, and continued her life here.
Unto this union four children were born, Myrle who passed away at the age of 21 months, April 20, 1909, Teddy Lile Harris, who is living at Dallas Center, Iowa; Mrs. Harris Kenworthy of Des Moines; and Mrs. Herschel Hester of Earlham; also one sister survives, Mrs. Lee Kamp of Estherville, Iowa, and nine grandchildren.
Alice Harris was a woman of great faith. She was baptised at the Episcapalian Church of England. She never thought of her self, only of others.
We all worship her for she was the very best mother to her children. We all loved her and we know she will be happy in the kingdom of God.
