Salathiel George Schoonover, son of Benjamin and Lottie Schoonover was born at Stockton, Iowa, April 23, 1875, and departed this life January 20, 1946.

In 1934 he was united in marriage to Hazel Johnson. To this union five children were born. Two having preceded him in death. Beside his widow, three children, George 10, Kara Lee 7 and Darrell 3; one married daughter, by a former marriage, Mrs. Vera Hertz and seven grandchildren of Peoria, Illinois; and two sisters Mrs. Marion Fleming of Earlham and Mrs. Farrier of Des Moines, survive him.

Most of his life was spent around Earlham. For the last 15 years he served as town marshall and constable.

George Schoonover Died Sunday Night

Salathiel George Schoonover, 70, died at his home in Earlham, Sunday, January 20, about mid-night.

He had been a resident of this community for many years. In former years he was engaged in farming and for approximately the past 15 years he served as town marshall until his health forced him to resign.

Funeral services were held at the Friends church Thursday afternoon at 2:00 o’clock. Rev. Hutchins was in charge. Burial was made in the Earlham cemetery.

He is survived by his wife and three children, a daughter by a former marriage, and two sisters, Mrs. Marion Fleming of Earlham, and Mrs. Farrier of Des Moines.
