Walter Jacob Piatt, son of Jacob Piatt and Emeline Nelson Piatt, was born February 18, 1877 near Cambridge in Henry county, Illinois, died August 11th, 1944, aged 67 years, five months and 23 days.

He came with his parents to Madison county when two years old and has resided in Penn township since that time.

One brother, George A. Piatt preceded him in death four years ago.

He leaves his only sister, Lula E. Griswold and four nephews, Willard V. Piatt, Lawrence J. Piatt, Lester Piatt and Dr. Glen H. Griswold, all of whom reside in Madison county and a host of friends.

(Burial was in Penn Center cemetery)
