Jessie Lucille Duff, daughter of Eber and Angeline Milligan Duff, was born November 15, 1880 on a farm in Madison township of Madison county. She attended a country school and after graduating from Winterset high school taught in country schools for several years.
On March 11, 1903 she was married to John Oliver McCleary. To this union one son, Paul McCleary, now of Perry, was born.
After a short illness, she passed away on March 2, 1971 at the Madison County Memorial hospital in Winterset.
She was a member of the Worthington United Methodist church.
Preceding her in death are her parents and three sisters: Ollie Mills, Virgie Barnett and Anna Duff.
She is survived by her husband John of Winterset, and her son Paul of Perry; by three grandchildren, John Paul McCleary of Charles City, Robert McCleary of Anchorage, Alaska, and Virginia Dills of Albany, California.
There are also ten great grandchildren and a host of friends.

Mrs. J. O. McCleary of Winterset died Tuesday, March 2, 1971, at Madison county Memorial hospital. She was 90 years of age.
Mrs. McCleary was a lifetime resident of Madison county. She was the former Jessie L. Duff, daughter of Eber and Angeline Milligan Duff, and was born on her parents farm in Madison township Nov. 15, 1880.
As a young woman, she taught rural school for many years.
She was married to J. O. McCleary on March 11, 1903.
Mrs. McCleary was a member of the Worthington Methodist Church.
She is survived by her husband; a son, Paul McCleary of Perry; three grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Thursday from the Worthington Methodist church, conducted by the Rev. Ward Young of Earlham. Burial was made in the Worthington cemetery.

Services Thursday for Mrs. J. O. McCleary
Mrs. J. O. McCleary, 90, died at the Madison County Memorial hospital Tuesday. Funeral services will be Thursday at 2:00 p.m. at Worthington Methodist church. Burial will be in Worthington cemetery.
Mrs. McCleary was a lifelong resident of Madison county. She was a graduate of Winterset high school and in earlier years had taught in the rural schools.
She is survived by her husband, a son Paul of Perry, three grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
Before retiring and moving to Winterset, she and her husband farmed in Madison township southeast of Earlham.

Services were held for Jessie L. McCleary at the Worthington Methodist church Thursday, March 4.
Rev. Ward Young was in charge of services. Mrs. Vernon White was organist.
Casket bearers were Neal Day, Cyrus McDonald, Phillip Silverthorn, James Smith, Dale Smith and Vernon White.
