RUSSELL NUZUM, 78 Died This Sunday

Russell A. Nuzum,, age 78, of rural St. Charles died Sunday, Aug. 9, 1970, at Madison County Memorial hospital.

A son of James and Arminta Carter Nuzum, he was born Sept. 15, 1891 at Conger, Iowa in Warren county. In Dec. of 1918, he married Vivian Esther Rush, who survives him.

Since 1935, Mr. Nuzum lived on a farm in South township. He was a Methodist, and a member of the St. Charles Masonic Lodge.

Surviving in addition to his wife are seven children, Kathleen Walsh of Roseau, Minn., Mary Michaels of Des Moines, Margaret Johnson of Thompson, Ia., Charlotte Rognehaugh of Buffalo Cener, Ia., Charleen Hayden of St. Charles, Raymond Nuzum of Winterset and Carolyn Taylor of Marion, Iowa; 21 grandchildren; six great grandchildren; one brother, Albert Nuzum of Des Moines; and two sisters, Mrs. Mary Roe of Des Moines, and Mrs. Ruth Dawson of Indianola.

He was preceded in death by a son, Richard, a daughter, Alixa Carstens, one brother and three sisters.

Funeral services for Mr. Nuzum were to be held this Wednesday afternoon from the Collins Funeral home in Winterset, with the Rev. Eldon E. Jandebeur officiating. Burial was to be in Sayre cemetery near St. Charles.
