Lyle Holt, Afton

Lyle Holt, 52, of Afton, died of complications of Friedreich's Ataxia on Sept. 26, 1995 at the Greater Community Hospital in Creston. Funeral services were Oct. 1 at the United Methodist Church of Arispe. The Rev. Pam Ferrin and the Rev. Merlin Wilkins officiated the services.

He was born April 4, 1943, at Omaha, Nebr., to John F. and Edith (Henkle) Holt. He was a member of the Arispe United Methodist Church, the U.S. Chess Federation and the Iowa State Chess Association.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Surviving relatives include two brothers, Paul Holt and wife Cheryl of St. Louis, Mo. and Lynn Holt and wife Dixie of Winterset; and two sister, Mary Yearns and husband Kerald of Des Moines and Laura Blanchet and husband Leon of Utica, Neb.
