DEAN VAN KOOTEN, Missouri

Dean Allen Van Kooten, 53, of Springfield, Mo., died of cancer Sept. 4, 2003, at St. John's Regional Health Care Center.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Sept. 6, at Gorman-Scharpf Brentwood Chapel with the Rev. Bill Knapp officiating. Burial was at Evergreen Cemetery in Leighton, Iowa.

Dean Van Kooten had been a businessman in Springfield since 1979, including several years in the insurance industry.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Linda Sue Van Kooten; and his grandparents, Albert and Mable De Jong and Pete Van Kooten.

He is survived by his mother, Inez Kirk of Springfield, Mo.; his father, Hank Van Kooten of Winterset; two daughters, Lora and Lisa Van Kooten of Springfield, Mo.; a brother, Todd Van Kooten of St. Charles; and a sister, Tonja Porter of Peru.
