Funeral services for Chester Leroy Sheets were held last Friday, July 15 at 11 a.m. from the United Presbyterian church in St. Charles.
Mr. Sheets died July 13, 1966, at his home in St. Charles. He was 81 years of age.
The son of Francis Marion and Nancy Bainter Sheets, he was born at Booneville, Iowa, on February 21, 1885. With the exception of 10 years of his early life spent in Missouri, he lived in Dallas and Madison counties where he farmed for many years, moving to St. Charles in 1935.
As a young man he became a member of the Church of Christ at Barney, later affiliating with the United Presbyterian church at St. Charles, where he served several years as a church officer.
He was married November 29, 1917 to Martha Ann Nicholl of St. Charles, who preceded him in death.
Also preceding him in death were his parents and two brothers. He is survived by a sister, Clara Wells, of Des Moines, and several nieces and nephews.
Officiating at the funeral last Friday was the Rev. Arthur Eady. Burial was in the St. Charles cemetery.
