M. B. HOLMES DIES ON WEST COAST

M. B. Holmes, a former Winterset resident, died Oct. 28 at a hospital in Portland, Ore. He was 74 years of age.

Mr. Holmes was born at Winterset May 5, 1894, and lived in this community until 1936, when he moved to Gresham, Ore., where he operated a grocery store. He retired in 1959 and moved to Milwaukee, Ore.

Surviving are his wife, Hazel, three sons, Jack and Robert Holmes of Portland and Joseph Holmes of Bonham, Tex.; two daughters, Mrs. Lois Hoover and Mrs. Doleta McKown of Portland; 15 grandchildren; five great grandchildren; a brother, Starling Holmes of Portland; and a sister, Mrs. Essie Worley of Winterset.

Funeral services were held Oct. 29 from Peake's Memorial chapel in Milwaukee, with burial in Douglas cemetery at Troutdale.
