LESTER HOLMES DIED WEDNESDAY

Was Life-Long Resident of Madison County; Dies At Age of 78 Years

Lester C. Holmes, a life-long resident of Madison county, died here last Wednesday, May 11, after several years of illness. He was 78 years of age.

Mr. Holmes was a native of Scott township, where he was born March 17, 1882, a son of Jacob and Captola Holmes. He was married June 28, 1903 to Elinor Breeding, who survives him.

In addition to his wife, he leaves five children, Mrs. Hazel Schoonover, Mrs. Edith Shaw, Mrs. Mildred Bek and Carl Holmes, all of Winterset, and Mrs. Mary Fife of Des Moines; He also leaves nine grandchildren, and brother, Walter Holmes of Hensler, N.Dak.

Funeral services were held Friday from Richards Funeral home, conducted by the Rev. Arthur Weed. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
