Carl Holmes of Winterset Dies

Carl C. Holmes of Winterset, a well-known farmer, died at Methodist Hospital in Des Moines Thursday, Dec. 28, at the age of 66 years.

Mr. Holmes was a life-time resident of the county. He was born here April 20, 1906, a son of Lester C. and Elinor Breeding Holmes. His life was spent in farming, until his retirement in 1962, when he moved to Winterset.

He is survived by four sisters, Mrs. Earl Schoonover of Winterset, Mrs. Paul Shaw of Dexter, Mrs. Joe Bek of Boone and Mrs. Kenneth Fife of Des Moines.

Funeral services were held Saturday from the Collins Funeral home in Winterset, conducted by the Newton M. Coughenour, pastor of the First United Methodist church here. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
