Funeral Held For J. O. McCLEARY

Funeral services for John Oliver (J.O.) McCleary of Winterset were held Tuesday afternoon, August 15, from the Collins Funeral Home.

Mr. McCleary died Aug. 13, 1972, at Madison Manor here. He was 91 years of age.

A son of Marshall and Tina Satterlee McCleary, he was born in Madison county on Aug. 1, 1881. Mr. McCleary lived his entire life-time in ths county with the exception of one year of construction work in Canada.

He farmed for many years n Madison township, retiring in 1960 and moving to Winterset.

On March 11, 1903 he was married to Jessie L. Duff. She preceded him in death on March 2, 1971. Mr. McCleary was a member of Worthington Methodist church.

Surviving are a son, Paul McCleary of Perry, Iowa; three grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and one brother, Fay McCleary of Hardin, Montana. He was preceded in death by his wife, seven brothers and one sister.

Officiating at the funeral for Mr. McCleary was the Rev. Walter A. Samp. Burial was at the Worthington Cemetery.
